Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Simeón Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesús Cristo, a los que por la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesús Cristo les ha cabido en suerte una fe tan preciosa como la nuestra. Que el conocimiento que tienen de nuestro Señor les proporcione gracia y paz abundantes. Su divino poder nos ha concedido cuanto necesitamos para la vida y la piedad, mediante el conocimiento perfecto del que nos ha llamado por su propia gloria y virtud. Por medio de ellas nos han sido concedidas las preciosas y sublimes promesas, para que por ellas se hicieran partícipes de la naturaleza divina, huyendo de la corrupción que hay en el mundo a causa de la concupiscencia. Por esta misma razón, pongan el mayor empeño en añadir a su fe la virtud, a la virtud el conocimiento, al conocimiento la templanza, a la templanza la paciencia activa, a la paciencia activa la piedad, a la piedad el amor fraterno, y al amor fraterno la caridad. Pues si poseen estas cosas en abundancia, no los dejarán inactivos ni estériles para llegar al conocimiento perfecto de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo. Quien no las tenga es ciego y corto de vista, y ha echado en olvido que ya ha sido purificado de sus pecados pasados. Por tanto, hermanos, pongan el mayor empeño en afianzar su vocación y su elección. Obrando así nunca caerán. [BJ-SAOGM]
Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promise, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature. For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be the more zealous to confirm your call and election, for if you do this you will never fall. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, al salir Jesús del Templo, le dijo uno de sus discípulos: «Maestro, mira qué piedras y qué construcciones.» Jesús le dijo: «¿Ves estas grandiosas construcciones? No quedará piedra sobre piedra, ni una que no sea derruida.» Estando luego sentado en el monte de los Olivos, frente al Templo, le preguntaron en privado Pedro, Santiago, Juan y Andrés: «Dinos cuándo sucederá eso, y cuál será la señal de que todas estas cosas están para cumplirse.» Jesús empezó a decirles: «Miren que no les engañe nadie, pues vendrán muchos usurpando mi nombre y diciendo: ‘Yo soy’, y engañarán a muchos. Cuando oigan hablar de guerras y de rumores de guerras, no se alarmen. Es necesario que eso suceda, pero no es todavía el fin. Pues se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino; habrá terremotos en diversos lugares, y se padecerá hambre. Esto será el comienzo de los dolores de alumbramiento.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, as Jesus came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down.” And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign when these things are all to be accomplished?” And Jesus began to say to them, “Take heed that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places, there will be famines and unrest; this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
