Señor Dios nuestro, de poder irrepresentable y gloria incomprensible, de misericordia incalculable y filantropía indecible; con tu entrañable compasión Soberano, observa a nosotros y a esta tu santa morada, activa las riquezas de tu misericordia y de tu compasión entre nosotros y a quienes junto con nosotros oran.

Lord, our God, whose dominion is incomparable and glory incomprehensible; whose mercy is immeasurable, and love for humankind ineffable: Look upon us and upon this holy house in Your loving-kindness, and grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy and compassion.

Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Mientras se canta la tercera antífona (con sus versos), el sacerdote y el diácono se inclinan tres veces ante el altar. Luego el sacerdote entrega el santo evangelio al diácono, quien le besa la mano al recibirlo, y luego los dos caminan alrededor del santo altar para salir por la puerta norte. Los acólitos salen primero, portando velas y querubines. (Si no hay diácono, el sacerdote toma el santo evangelio y lo sostiene frente a su rostro.) Cuando llegan todos al centro de la iglesia, se detienen e inclinan la cabeza, y el Diácono dice en voz baja:

As the Third Antiphon is being sung (with its verses), the Priest and Deacon bow three times before the holy Table. Then the Priest gives the holy Gospel to the Deacon, who kisses the Priest’s hand as he receives it, and then circles the holy Table with the Priest following him. Preceded by altar servers holding candles and fans, they exit through the north door for the so-called Small Entrance. When there is no Deacon, the Priest takes the holy Gospel and holds it up in front of his face. When they reach the center of the church, they stop and bow their heads, and the Deacon says in a low voice:

Hermanos, quiero que sepan que lo que me ha sucedido ha contribuido más bien al progreso del Evangelio, pues se ha hecho público, en todo el Pretorio y entre todos los demás, que me encuentro encarcelado por Cristo. Así, la mayor parte de los hermanos, alentados en el Señor por mis cadenas, tienen mayor intrepidez en anunciar sin temor la palabra. Es cierto que algunos predican a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad; pero hay también otros que lo hacen con buena intención. Éstos actúan por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para defender el Evangelio; aquéllos, por rivalidad, no con puras intenciones, pensando que así añaden sufrimiento a mis cadenas. ¿Y qué? Al fin y al cabo, con hipocresía o con sinceridad, Cristo es anunciado, y esto me alegra y seguirá alegrándome. Yo sé que esto servirá para mi salvación, gracias a sus oraciones y a la ayuda prestada por el Espíritu de Jesús Cristo, pues espero firmemente no sentirme en modo alguno fracasado. [BJ-SAOGM]

Brethren, I want you to know that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole praetorium and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ; and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of partisanship, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I shall rejoice. For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope. [RSV]

Pero el que me niegue delante de los hombres, será negado delante de los ángeles de Dios. A todo el que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del hombre se le perdonará; pero al que blasfeme contra el Espíritu Santo no se le perdonará. The Lord said to his disciples, “Every one who acknowledges me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” [RSV]

De nuevo y reiteradamente nos postramos ante ti, y te pedimos, bondadoso y filántropo, que, habiendo atendido nuestra petición, purifiques nuestra alma y cuerpo de toda mancha de carne y de espíritu, y nos concedas, sin culpa ni condenación, presentarnos ante tu santo altar. Otorga, además, Dios, a los que oran junto con nosotros, el progreso en la vida, en la fe y en el conocimiento espiritual; concédeles, que te rindan siempre culto con temor y amor, que sin culpa ni condenación participen de tus santos misterios y sean hechos dignos de tu reino celestial.

Again and countless times we fall down before You, and we implore You, O good and benevolent Lord: That You, having regarded our prayer, may cleanse our souls and bodies from every defilement of flesh and spirit, and grant to us to stand before Your holy Altar of sacrifice, free of guilt and condemnation. Grant also, O God, to those who pray with us, progress in life, faith, and spiritual understanding. Grant that they always worship You with awe and love, partake of Your holy sacrament without guilt or condemnation, and be deemed worthy of Your celestial kingdom.

Ninguno de los que se hallan atados por los deseos y placeres carnales es digno de llegar o de acercarse a ti, ni de servirte, rey de la gloria; pues el servirte es cosa grande y terrible aun para las potestades celestiales. No obstante, por tu indecible e infinito amor a la humanidad, te hiciste hombre sin cambio ni alteración, y te erigiste sumo sacerdote nuestro, concediéndonos a nosotros el ministerio de este litúrgico e incruento sacrificio, como Soberano de todo; puesto que sólo tú, Señor Dios nuestro, ejerces el dominio sobre todas las cosas celestiales y terrenales; tú que te asientas sobre el trono de los querubines; que eres el Señor de los serafines; que eres el Señor de los Serafines y el rey de Israel, el único santo, y descansas entre los santos. No one bound by carnal desires and pleasures is worthy to approach, draw near, or minister to You, the King of Glory. For to serve You is great and awesome even for the heavenly powers. Yet, because of Your ineffable and immeasurable love for humankind, You impassibly and immutably became man. You, as the Master of all, became our high priest and delivered unto us the sacred service of this liturgical and bloodless sacrifice. Indeed, Lord our God, You alone reign over the celestial and the terrestrial; borne aloft on the cherubic throne, Lord of the Seraphim and King of Israel, the only holy and resting among the holy ones. I now beseech You, who alone are good and inclined to hear: Look down upon me, Your sinful and unprofitable servant, and cleanse my soul and heart of a wicked conscience. Vested as I am with the grace of priesthood by the power of Your Holy Spirit, make me sufficient to stand before Your holy Table and perform the sacrament of Your holy and pure Body and Your precious Blood.
