Hermanos, que cada uno de ustedes ame a su mujer como a sí mismo; y la mujer, que respete al marido. Hijos, obedezcan a sus padres por respeto al Señor, porque eso es lo justo. Honra a tu padre y a tu madre es el primer mandamiento que lleva consigo una promesa: Para que seas feliz y se prolongue tu vida sobre la tierra. Padres, no exasperen a sus hijos, sino fórmenlos más bien mediante la instrucción y la exhortación según el Señor. Esclavos, obedezcan a sus amos de este mundo con respeto y temor, con sencillez de corazón, como a Cristo, no por ser vistos, como quien busca agradar a los hombres, sino como esclavos de Cristo que cumplen de corazón la voluntad de Dios; de buena gana, como quien sirve al Señor y no a los hombres; conscientes de que cada cual será recompensado por el Señor según el bien que haga: sea esclavo, sea libre. Amos, obren de la misma manera con ellos, dejándose de amenazas; teniendo presente que está en los cielos su Amo y el de ellos, y que en él no hay favoritismos. [BJ-SAOGM] |
Brethren, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ; not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatever good any one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Masters, do the same to them, and forbear threatening, knowing that he who is both their Lord and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him. [RSV] |

En aquel tiempo, estaba Jesús expulsando un demonio que era mudo, y apenas salió el demonio, rompió a hablar el mudo. La gente quedó admirada, aunque algunos de ellos comentaban: «Éste expulsa los demonios por Beelzebul, Príncipe de los demonios.» Otros, para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían un signo del cielo. Pero él, adivinando sus intenciones, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo quedará asolado, y una casa se desplomará sobre la otra. Entonces, si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo podrá subsistir su reino?... porque dicen que yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul. Si yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul, ¿por quién los expulsan sus hijos? Por eso, ellos serán sus jueces. Pero si yo expulso los demonios por el dedo de Dios, señal de que ha llegado a ustedes el Reino de Dios. Cuando uno fuerte y bien armado custodia su palacio, sus bienes están en seguro; pero si llega uno más fuerte que él y le vence, le quita las armas en las que estaba confiado y reparte sus despojos. El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.» [BJ-SAOGM] |
At that time, Jesus was casting out a demon that was dumb; when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the people marveled. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons”; while others, to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.” [RSV] |
