Hermanos, den gracias siempre y por todo a Dios Padre, en nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo. Sean sumisos los unos a los otros, por respeto a Cristo: las mujeres a sus maridos, como al Señor, porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, como Cristo es cabeza de la Iglesia, el salvador del cuerpo. Como la Iglesia está sumisa a Cristo, así también las mujeres deben estarlo a sus maridos en todo. Maridos, amen a sus mujeres como Cristo amó a la Iglesia y se entregó a sí mismo por ella. Brethren, always and for everything give thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. [RSV]

Αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὑποτάσσεσθε ὡς τῷ Κυρίῳ, ὅτι ὁ ἀνήρ ἐστι κεφαλὴ τῆς γυναικός, ὡς καὶ ὁ Χριστὸς κεφαλὴ τῆς ἐκκλησίας, καὶ αὐτός ἐστι σωτὴρ τοῦ σώματος. ἀλλ᾽ ὥσπερ ἡ ἐκκλησία ὑποτάσσεται τῷ Χριστῷ, οὕτω καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ἐν παντί. οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας ἑαυτῶν, καθὼς καὶ ὁ Χριστὸς ἠγάπησε τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἑαυτὸν παρέδωκεν ὑπὲρ αὐτῆς.

En aquel tiempo, estaba Jesús orando en cierto lugar. Cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: «Señor, enséñanos a orar, como enseñó Juan a sus discípulos.» Él les dijo: «Cuando oren, digan: Padre, santificado sea tu Nombre, venga tu Reino, danos cada día nuestro pan cotidiano, y perdónanos nuestros pecados, porque también nosotros perdonamos a todo el que nos debe, y no nos dejes caer en tentación.» Les dijo también: «Imagínense que uno de ustedes tiene un amigo y acude a él a medianoche, diciéndole: ‘Amigo, préstame tres panes, porque ha llegado de viaje a mi casa un amigo mío y no tengo qué ofrecerle’, y el otro, desde dentro, le responde: ‘No me molestes. La puerta ya está cerrada, y mis hijos y yo estamos acostados. No puedo levantarme a dártelos.’ Les aseguro que si no se levanta a dárselos por ser su amigo, se levantará para que deje de molestarle, y le dará cuanto necesite. «Yo les digo: Pidan y se les dará; busquen y hallarán; llamen y se les abrirá. Porque todo el que pide, recibe; el que busca, halla; y al que llama, le abrirán.» [BJ-SAOGM]

At that time, Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” [RSV]

Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐν τόπῳ τινὶ προσευχόμενον, ὡς ἐπαύσατο, εἶπέ τις τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτόν· Κύριε, δίδαξον ἡμᾶς προσεύχεσθαι, καθὼς καὶ Ἰωάννης ἐδίδαξε τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ. εἶπε δὲ αὐτοῖς· ὅταν προσεύχησθε, λέγετε· Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου· ἐλθέτω ἡ βασιλεία σου· γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου, ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ, καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δίδου ἡμῖν τὸ καθ᾿ ἡμέραν· καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν· καὶ γὰρ αὐτοὶ ἀφίεμεν παντὶ τῷ ὀφείλοντι ἡμῖν· καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν, ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ πονηροῦ. Καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτούς· τίς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἕξει φίλον, καὶ πορεύσεται πρὸς αὐτὸν μεσονυκτίου καὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ· φίλε, χρῆσόν μοι τρεῖς ἄρτους, ἐπειδὴ φίλος μου παρεγένετο ἐξ ὁδοῦ πρός με καὶ οὐκ ἔχω ὃ παραθήσω αὐτῷ· κἀκεῖνος ἔσωθεν ἀποκριθεὶς εἴπῃ· μή μοι κόπους πάρεχε· ἤδη ἡ θύρα κέκλεισται καὶ τὰ παιδία μου μετ᾿ ἐμοῦ εἰς τὴν κοίτην εἰσίν· οὐ δύναμαι ἀναστὰς δοῦναί σοι; λέγω ὑμῖν, εἰ καὶ οὐ δώσει αὐτῷ ἀναστὰς διὰ τὸ εἶναι αὐτοῦ φίλον, διά γε τὴν ἀναίδειαν αὐτοῦ ἐγερθεὶς δώσει αὐτῷ ὅσων χρῄζει. κἀγὼ ὑμῖν λέγω, αἰτεῖτε, καὶ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν, ζητεῖτε, καὶ εὑρήσετε, κρούετε, καὶ ἀνοιγήσεται ὑμῖν· πᾶς γὰρ ὁ αἰτῶν λαμβάνει καὶ ὁ ζητῶν εὑρίσκει καὶ τῷ κρούοντι ἀνοιχθήσεται.

On October 22, we commemorate our father among the saints Abercius the miracle-worker, Bishop of Hieropolis and Equal to the Apostles.

Τῇ ΚΒʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ ἐν ἁγίοις πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ Ἰσαποστόλου Ἀβερκίου, Ἐπισκόπου Ἱεραπόλεως, τοῦ Θαυματουργοῦ.
