Verso 1: Bueno es alabar al Señor, y cantar salmos a tu nombre, oh Altísimo. [BASJ]

Verse 1: It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing to Your name, O Most High. [SAAS]

Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

La memoria del justo es digna de la alabanza, pero te es suficiente el testimonio del Señor, oh Precursor. Porque, en verdad, te manifestaste más honorable que los profetas, pues has sido merecedor de bautizar en las corrientes del Jordán a Aquél que había sido anunciado. Por tanto, después de haber luchado gozosamente por la Verdad, anunciaste a aquellos que moraban en el Hades, a Dios que se manifiesta en la carne y borra el pecado del mundo, concediéndonos la gran misericordia. [unES]

The memory of the just is observed with hymns of praise; for you suffices the testimony of the Lord, O Forerunner. You have proved to be truly more ven’rable than the Prophets, since you were granted to baptize in the river the One whom they proclaimed. Therefore, when for the truth you had contested, rejoicing, to those in Hades you preached the Gospel, that God was manifested in the flesh, and takes away the sin of the world, and grants to us the great mercy. Hermanos, ya no son extraños ni forasteros, sino conciudadanos de los santos y familiares de Dios, edificados sobre el cimiento de los apóstoles y profetas. Y la piedra angular es Cristo mismo, en quien toda edificación bien trabada se eleva hasta formar un templo santo en el Señor, en quien también ustedes con ellos están siendo edificados, para ser morada de Dios mediante el Espíritu. Por lo cual yo, Pablo, el prisionero de Cristo en favor de ustedes, los gentiles, si es que conocen la misión de la gracia que Dios me concedió en provecho de ustedes: cómo me fue comunicado por una revelación el conocimiento del misterio, tal como brevemente acabo de exponerles. Por la lectura de la carta podrán captar mi conocimiento del misterio de Cristo, un misterio que no fue dado a conocer a los hombres en generaciones pasadas. Brethren, you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles — assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that is, how the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace which was given me by the working of his power. [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día y sígame. Porque quien quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero quien pierda su vida por mí, la salvará. Pues ¿de qué le sirve al hombre haber ganado el mundo entero, si él mismo se pierde o se arruina? Porque quien se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras, también el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga en su gloria, en la de su Padre y en la de los santos ángeles. «Pues de verdad les digo que algunos de los aquí presentes no gustarán la muerte hasta que vean el Reino de Dios.» [BJ-SAOGM]

The Lord said to his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.” [RSV]

Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

Cristo, verdadero Dios nuestro, por las intercesiones de su purísima e inmaculada Madre, por el poder de la vivificante y preciosa Cruz, la protección de las celestiales potestades incorpóreas, las súplicas del venerable y glorioso profeta, precursor y bautista Juan, de los santos, gloriosos y alabadísimos apóstoles, de los santos, gloriosos y victoriosos mártires, de nuestros justos y teóforos padres, (santo patrono del templo local); de los santos y justos familiares del Señor, Joaquín y Ana, y de todos los santos, tenga misericordia de nosotros y sálvanos, pues eres un Dios bondadoso y filántropo.
