Hermanos, Dios sometió todo bajo sus pies y le constituyó cabeza suprema de la Iglesia, que es su cuerpo, la plenitud del que lo llena todo en todo. Y a ustedes, que estaban muertos en sus delitos y pecados, en los cuales vivieron en otro tiempo según el proceder de este mundo, según el príncipe del imperio del aire, el espíritu que actúa en los rebeldes... entre ellos vivíamos también todos nosotros en otro tiempo, sujetos a las concupiscencias y apetencias de nuestra naturaleza humana, y a los malos pensamientos, destinados por naturaleza, como los demás. Brethren, God has put all things under his son’s feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. [RSV] |

Καὶ ὑμᾶς ὄντας νεκροὺς τοῖς παραπτώμασι καὶ ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις, ἐν αἷς ποτε περιεπατήσατε κατὰ τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ κόσμου τούτου, κατὰ τὸν ἄρχοντα τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ ἀέρος, τοῦ πνεύματος τοῦ νῦν ἐνεργοῦντος ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς τῆς ἀπειθείας· ἐν οἷς καὶ ἡμεῖς πάντες ἀνεστράφημέν ποτε ἐν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις τῆς σαρκὸς ἡμῶν, ποιοῦντες τὰ θελήματα τῆς σαρκὸς καὶ τῶν διανοιῶν, καὶ ἦμεν τέκνα φύσει ὀργῆς, ὡς καὶ οἱ λοιποί. |

En aquel tiempo, estando una vez orando a solas, en compañía de los discípulos, Jesús les preguntó: «¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo?» Ellos respondieron: «Unos, que Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que uno de los antiguos profetas ha resucitado.» Les preguntó: «Pero ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?» Pedro le contestó: «El Cristo de Dios.» Entonces les ordenó enérgicamente que no dijeran esto a nadie. Les dijo: «El Hijo del hombre debe sufrir mucho y ser reprobado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas; lo matarán y resucitará al tercer día.» [BJ-SAOGM] |
At that time, it happened that as he was praying alone the disciples were with him; and he asked them, “Who do the people say that I am?” And they answered, “John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets has risen.” And he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.” But he charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” [RSV] |
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι τὸν Ἰησοῦν προσευχόμενον καταμόνας, συνῆσαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί, καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτοὺς λέγων· τίνα με λέγουσιν οἱ ὄχλοι εἶναι; οἱ δὲ ἀποκριθέντες εἶπον· Ἰωάννην τὸν βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ Ἠλίαν, ἄλλοι δὲ ὅτι προφήτης τις τῶν ἀρχαίων ἀνέστη. εἶπε δὲ αὐτοῖς· ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα μὲ λέγετε εἶναι; ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπε· τὸν Χριστὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ. Ὁ δὲ ἐπιτιμήσας αὐτοῖς παρήγγειλε μηδενὶ λέγειν τοῦτο, εἰπὼν ὅτι δεῖ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πολλὰ παθεῖν καὶ ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων, καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι, καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθῆναι. |
