For the peace of the whole world, for the stability of the holy churches of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord.

For this holy house and for those who enter it with faith, reverence, and the fear of God, let us pray to the Lord.

Por quienes viajan por mar, tierra o aire, por los enfermos, los afligidos, los cautivos y por su salvación, roguemos al Señor.

For those who travel by land, sea, and air, for the sick, the suffering, the captives and for their salvation, let us pray to the Lord.

Señor Dios nuestro, de poder irrepresentable y gloria incomprensible, de misericordia incalculable y filantropía indecible; con tu entrañable compasión Soberano, observa a nosotros y a esta tu santa morada, activa las riquezas de tu misericordia y de tu compasión entre nosotros y a quienes junto con nosotros oran.

Lord, our God, whose dominion is incomparable and glory incomprehensible; whose mercy is immeasurable, and love for humankind ineffable: Look upon us and upon this holy house in Your loving-kindness, and grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy and compassion.

Lord, our God, save Your people and bless Your inheritance. Protect all the members of Your Church. Sanctify those who love the beauty of Your house. Glorify them in return by Your divine power, and forsake us not who have set our hope in You.

Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Tú que nos concediste la gracia de estas comunes y unísonas oraciones y que prometiste aceptar las peticiones a dos o tres concordes en tu nombre, tú mismo también ahora, cumple, las peticiones, de tus servidores para lo que conviene otorgándonos, en el presente siglo, el conocimiento, de tú verdad, y en el futuro, la vida eterna.

Lord, You have granted us to offer these common prayers in unison and have promised that when two or three agree in Your name, You will grant their requests. Fulfill now, O Lord, the petitions of Your servants as may be of benefit to them, granting us in the present age the knowledge of Your truth, and in the age to come eternal life.

In you, O Mother, is preserved undistorted what was made in the image of God; for taking up the cross, you followed Christ and by example taught, that we should overlook the flesh, since it passes away, and instead look after the soul, since it is immortal. Η ΕΙΣΟΔΟΣ

Mientras se canta la tercera antífona (con sus versos), el sacerdote y el diácono se inclinan tres veces ante el altar. Luego el sacerdote entrega el santo evangelio al diácono, quien le besa la mano al recibirlo, y luego los dos caminan alrededor del santo altar para salir por la puerta norte. Los acólitos salen primero, portando velas y querubines. (Si no hay diácono, el sacerdote toma el santo evangelio y lo sostiene frente a su rostro.) Cuando llegan todos al centro de la iglesia, se detienen e inclinan la cabeza, y el Diácono dice en voz baja:

As the Third Antiphon is being sung (with its verses), the Priest and Deacon bow three times before the holy Table. Then the Priest gives the holy Gospel to the Deacon, who kisses the Priest’s hand as he receives it, and then circles the holy Table with the Priest following him. Preceded by altar servers holding candles and fans, they exit through the north door for the so-called Small Entrance. When there is no Deacon, the Priest takes the holy Gospel and holds it up in front of his face. When they reach the center of the church, they stop and bow their heads, and the Deacon says in a low voice:

Master, Lord our God, who has established the orders and hosts of angels and archangels in heaven to minister to Your glory, grant that holy angels may enter with us, that together we may celebrate and glorify Your goodness. O Holy God, who is resting among the holy ones, praised by the Seraphim with the thrice-holy voice, glorified by the Cherubim, and worshiped by every celestial power, You have brought all things into being out of nothing. You have created man according to Your image and likeness and adorned him with all the gifts of Your grace. You give wisdom and understanding to the one who asks, and You overlook not the sinner, but have set repentance as the way of salvation. You have granted us, Your humble and unworthy servants, to stand even at this hour before the glory of Your holy Altar of sacrifice and to offer to You due worship and praise. Master, accept the Trisagion Hymn also from the lips of us sinners, and visit us in Your goodness. Hermanos, si aún predicase la circuncisión, no tendría por qué ser perseguido. ¡En tal caso, la cruz ya no supondría ningún escándalo para quienes me persiguen! ¡Ojalá que se mutilaran los que los perturban! Ustedes, hermanos, han sido llamados a la libertad. Pero no tomen de esa libertad pretexto para la carne; antes al contrario, sírvanse unos a otros por amor. Pues toda la ley alcanza su plenitud en este solo precepto: ‘Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo’. ¡Entonces cuidado!, pues si andan mordiéndose y devorándose unos a otros, van a acabar destruyéndose mutuamente. Les digo, pues, que procedan según el Espíritu, sin dar vía libre a las meras apetencias humanas, es decir, a la carne. Pues la carne tiene apetencias contrarias al espíritu, y el espíritu contrarias a la carne; y son tan opuestos entre sí, que no hacen lo que quieren. Pero, si son guiados por el Espíritu, ya no están bajo la ley. Ahora bien, las obras de la carne son bien conocidas: fornicación, impureza, libertinaje, idolatría, hechicería, odios, discordia, celos, iras, ambición, divisiones, disensiones, rivalidades, borracheras, comilonas y cosas semejantes. Sobre todo esto les prevengo; ya les advertí que quienes hacen tales cosas no heredarán el Reino de Dios. [BJ-SAOGM]

Brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the stumbling block of the cross has been removed. I wish those who unsettle you would mutilate themselves! For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants of one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another take heed that you are not consumed by one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you would. But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are plain: adultery, fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, envy, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [RSV]

Ἀδελφοί, εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω, τί ἔτι διώκομαι; ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ. ὄφελον καὶ ἀποκόψονται οἱ ἀναστατοῦντες ὑμᾶς. ῾Υμεῖς γὰρ ἐπ᾽ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἐκλήθητε, ἀδελφοί· μόνον μὴ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν εἰς ἀφορμὴν τῇ σαρκί, ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης δουλεύετε ἀλλήλοις. ὁ γὰρ πᾶς νόμος ἐν ἑνὶ λόγῳ πληροῦται, ἐν τῷ, ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν. εἰ δὲ ἀλλήλους δάκνετε καὶ κατεσθίετε, βλέπετε μὴ ὑπ᾽ ἀλλήλων ἀναλωθῆτε. Λέγω δέ, πνεύματι περιπατεῖτε καὶ ἐπιθυμίαν σαρκὸς οὐ μὴ τελέσητε. ἡ γὰρ σὰρξ ἐπιθυμεῖ κατὰ τοῦ πνεύματος, τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα κατὰ τῆς σαρκός· ταῦτα δὲ ἀντίκειται ἀλλήλοις, ἵνα μὴ ἃ ἂν θέλητε ταῦτα ποιῆτε. εἰ δὲ Πνεύματι ἄγεσθε, οὐκ ἐστὲ ὑπὸ νόμον. φανερὰ δέ ἐστι τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός, ἅτινά ἐστι μοιχεία, πορνεία, ἀκαθαρσία, ἀσέλγεια, εἰδωλολατρία, φαρμακεία, ἔχθραι, ἔρεις, ζῆλοι, θυμοί, ἐριθεῖαι, διχοστασίαι, αἱρέσεις, φθόνοι, φόνοι, μέθαι, κῶμοι καὶ τὰ ὅμοια τούτοις, ἃ προλέγω ὑμῖν καθὼς καὶ προεῖπον, ὅτι οἱ τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντες βασιλείαν Θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν.

Soberano filántropo, haz brillar en nuestros corazones la luz pura de tu conocimiento, y abre los ojos de nuestro entendimiento a la comprensión de tus predicaciones evangélicas; inculca asimismo en nosotros el temor de tus bienaventurados mandamientos a fin de que, habiendo pisoteado todos los deseos carnales, vayamos en busca de un espiritual modo de vida, pensando y obrando cuanto es de tu agrado. Porque tú eres la iluminación de nuestras almas y cuerpos, Cristo Dios, y a ti rendimos gloria junto con tu Padre que no tiene principio y con tu santísimo, bondadoso y vivificador Espíritu, ahora y siempre y por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

Shine in our hearts, O benevolent Lord, the pure light of Your divine knowledge, and open the eyes of our mind that we may comprehend the proclamations of Your Gospels. Instill in us the fear that Your blessed commandments inspire, so that, crushing carnal desires, we may seek the spiritual citizenship, thinking and doing all those things that are pleasing to You. For You, Christ our God, are the illumination of our souls and bodies, and to You we offer up glory, and to Your Father, who is without beginning, and Your all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Le acompañaban los Doce y algunas mujeres que habían sido curadas de espíritus malignos y enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios, Juana, mujer de Cusa, un administrador de Herodes, Susana y otras muchas que les servían con sus bienes. At that time, Jesus went through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for him out of their means. De nuevo y reiteradamente nos postramos ante ti, y te pedimos, bondadoso y filántropo, que, habiendo atendido nuestra petición, purifiques nuestra alma y cuerpo de toda mancha de carne y de espíritu, y nos concedas, sin culpa ni condenación, presentarnos ante tu santo altar. Otorga, además, Dios, a los que oran junto con nosotros, el progreso en la vida, en la fe y en el conocimiento espiritual; concédeles, que te rindan siempre culto con temor y amor, que sin culpa ni condenación participen de tus santos misterios y sean hechos dignos de tu reino celestial.

Again and countless times we fall down before You, and we implore You, O good and benevolent Lord: That You, having regarded our prayer, may cleanse our souls and bodies from every defilement of flesh and spirit, and grant to us to stand before Your holy Altar of sacrifice, free of guilt and condemnation. Grant also, O God, to those who pray with us, progress in life, faith, and spiritual understanding. Grant that they always worship You with awe and love, partake of Your holy sacrament without guilt or condemnation, and be deemed worthy of Your celestial kingdom.

Quienes a los querubines místicamente representamos y a la vivificadora Trinidad el himno trisagio cantamos: todo mundano afán depongamos. Para acoger al rey de todos.

Let us, who mystically represent the Cherubim and who sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-creating Trinity, now lay aside every worldly care. So that we may receive the King of all.

Ninguno de los que se hallan atados por los deseos y placeres carnales es digno de llegar o de acercarse a ti, ni de servirte, rey de la gloria; pues el servirte es cosa grande y terrible aun para las potestades celestiales. No obstante, por tu indecible e infinito amor a la humanidad, te hiciste hombre sin cambio ni alteración, y te erigiste sumo sacerdote nuestro, concediéndonos a nosotros el ministerio de este litúrgico e incruento sacrificio, como Soberano de todo; puesto que sólo tú, Señor Dios nuestro, ejerces el dominio sobre todas las cosas celestiales y terrenales; tú que te asientas sobre el trono de los querubines; que eres el Señor de los serafines; que eres el Señor de los Serafines y el rey de Israel, el único santo, y descansas entre los santos. No one bound by carnal desires and pleasures is worthy to approach, draw near, or minister to You, the King of Glory. For to serve You is great and awesome even for the heavenly powers. Yet, because of Your ineffable and immeasurable love for humankind, You impassibly and immutably became man. You, as the Master of all, became our high priest and delivered unto us the sacred service of this liturgical and bloodless sacrifice. Indeed, Lord our God, You alone reign over the celestial and the terrestrial; borne aloft on the cherubic throne, Lord of the Seraphim and King of Israel, the only holy and resting among the holy ones. I now beseech You, who alone are good and inclined to hear: Look down upon me, Your sinful and unprofitable servant, and cleanse my soul and heart of a wicked conscience. Vested as I am with the grace of priesthood by the power of Your Holy Spirit, make me sufficient to stand before Your holy Table and perform the sacrament of Your holy and pure Body and Your precious Blood. I come before You, with my head bowed, and I implore You: Turn not Your face away from me, nor reject me from among Your children, but make me, Your sinful and unworthy servant, worthy to offer these gifts to You. For You are the One who both offers and is offered, the One who is received and is distributed, O Christ our God, and to You we offer up glory, and to Your Father, who is without beginning, and Your all-holy and good and life-creating Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Οὐδεὶς ἄξιος τῶν συνδεδεμένων ταῖς σαρκικαῖς ἐπιθυμίαις καὶ ἡδοναῖς προσέρχεσθαι ἢ προσεγγίζειν ἢ λειτουργεῖν σοι, βασιλεῦ τῆς δόξης· τὸ γὰρ διακονεῖν σοι μέγα καὶ φοβερὸν καὶ αὐταῖς ταῖς ἐπουρανίαις δυνάμεσιν. Lord God Almighty, You alone are holy. Tiembla, hombre, cuando contemples la Sangre deificante; es una brasa que consume al indigno. El Cuerpo de Dios deifica y alimenta; deifica el espíritu y maravillosamente alimenta la mente.

Seeing the deifying Blood, O human, shudder, * for it is a live coal that burns the unworthy. * The Body of God both deifies my spirit * and feeds my mind in extraordinary manner.

How shall I enter into the splendor of Your saints since I am unworthy? For if I dare to enter the wedding hall along with them, my garment will betray me, for it is not fit for the wedding; and then I shall be bound and cast out by the Angels. Benevolent Master, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, let not these Holy Gifts be to my judgment because I am unworthy, but rather for the purification and sanctification of both soul and body and the pledge of the life and kingdom to come. It is good for me to cleave unto God and to place in Him the hope of my salvation.

Receive me, today, O Son of God, as a partaker of Your mystical Supper. I will not reveal Your mystery to Your enemies, nor will I give You a kiss, as did Judas. But like the Robber I confess to You. Remember me, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom.

O Lord, who blesses those who bless You and sanctifies those who put their trust in You, save Your people and bless Your inheritance. Protect the whole body of Your Church. Grant peace to Your world, to Your churches, to the clergy, to our civic leaders, to the armed forces, and to all Your people.
