Hermanos, a la manera de Isaac, ustedes son hijos de la promesa. Pero, así como entonces el nacido según la naturaleza perseguía al nacido según el Espíritu, así ocurre también ahora. ¿Y qué dice la Escritura? ‘Despide a la esclava y a su hijo, que no heredará el hijo de la esclava junto con el hijo’ de la libre. Así que, hermanos, no somos hijos de la esclava, sino de la libre. Para ser libres nos ha liberado Cristo. Manténganse, pues, firmes y no se dejen oprimir nuevamente bajo el yugo de la esclavitud. Soy yo, Pablo, quien se lo dice: Si se circuncidan, Cristo no les aprovechará nada. Les declaro de nuevo que todo hombre que se circuncida queda obligado a practicar toda la ley. Todos cuantos buscan la justicia en la ley han roto con Cristo; han caído en desgracia. Nosotros, en cambio, esperamos la justicia anhelada por medio del Espíritu y de la fe. Porque si pertenecemos a Cristo Jesús, ni la circuncisión ni la incircuncisión tienen eficacia, sino la fe, que actúa por la caridad. Con lo bien que corrían, ¿quién les puso obstáculos para que no siguieran a la verdad? Semejante persuasión no proviene, desde luego, de Aquel que los llama. Es verdad que un poco de levadura hace fermentar toda la masa, pero el Señor me inspira la confianza en que no cambiarán de actitud. De todos modos, el que los perturba, quienquiera que sea, cargará con su sentencia. [BJ-SAOGM]

Brethren, we, like Isaac, are children of promise. But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now. But what does the scripture say? “Cast out the slave and her son; for the son of the slave shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” So, brethren, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman. For freedom Christ has set us free; stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Now I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who receives circumcision that he is bound to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love. You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view than mine; and he who is troubling you will bear his judgment, whoever he is. [RSV]

Ἄρα, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἐσμὲν παιδίσκης τέκνα, ἀλλὰ τῆς ἐλευθέρας. Τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ οὖν, ᾗ Χριστὸς ἡμᾶς ἠλευθέρωσε, στήκετε, καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε. Ἴδε ἐγὼ Παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε, Χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει. μαρτύρομαι δὲ πάλιν παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ περιτεμνομένῳ ὅτι ὀφειλέτης ἐστὶν ὅλον τὸν νόμον ποιῆσαι. κατηργήθητε ἀπὸ τοῦ Χριστοῦ οἵτινες ἐν νόμῳ δικαιοῦσθε, τῆς χάριτος ἐξεπέσατε· ἡμεῖς γὰρ Πνεύματι ἐκ πίστεως ἐλπίδα δικαιοσύνης ἀπεκδεχόμεθα. ἐν γὰρ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει οὔτε ἀκροβυστία, ἀλλὰ πίστις δι᾽ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη. Ἐτρέχετε καλῶς· τίς ὑμᾶς ἐνέκοψε τῇ ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι; ἡ πεισμονὴ οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς. μικρὰ ζύμη ὅλον τὸ φύραμα ζυμοῖ. ἐγὼ πέποιθα εἰς ὑμᾶς ἐν Κυρίῳ ὅτι οὐδὲν ἄλλο φρονήσετε· ὁ δὲ ταράσσων ὑμᾶς βαστάσει τὸ κρῖμα, ὅστις ἂν ᾖ.

En aquel tiempo, un fariseo rogó a Jesús que comiera con él. Entró en la casa del fariseo y se puso a la mesa. Había en el pueblo una mujer pecadora pública. Al enterarse de que estaba comiendo en casa del fariseo, llevó un frasco de alabastro de perfume y, poniéndose detrás, a los pies de él, comenzó a llorar. Con sus lágrimas le humedecía los pies y con los cabellos de su cabeza se los secaba; besaba sus pies y los ungía con el perfume. El fariseo que le había invitado, al ver la escena, se decía para sí: «Si éste fuera profeta, sabría quién y qué clase de mujer es la que le está tocando: una pecadora.» Jesús le dijo: «Simón, tengo algo que decirte.» Él respondió: «Di, maestro.» «Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: uno debía quinientos denarios y el otro cincuenta. Como no tenían para pagarle, perdonó a los dos. ¿Quién de ellos le amará más?» Respondió Simón: «Supongo que aquel a quien perdonó más.» Jesús le dijo: «Has juzgado bien.» Después, volviéndose hacia la mujer, dijo a Simón: «¿Ves a esta mujer? Entré en tu casa y no me diste agua para los pies. Ella, en cambio, ha humedecido mis pies con lágrimas y los ha secado con sus cabellos. No me diste el beso, pero ella, desde que entró, no ha dejado de besarme los pies. No ungiste mi cabeza con aceite, pero ella ha ungido mis pies con perfume. Por eso te digo que quedan perdonados sus numerosos pecados, porque ha mostrado mucho amor. A quien poco se le perdona, poco amor muestra.» Y le dijo a ella: «Tus pecados quedan perdonados.» Los comensales empezaron a decirse para sí: «¿Quién es éste, que hasta perdona los pecados?» Pero él dijo a la mujer: «Tu fe te ha salvado. At that time, one of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee’s house, and took his place at table. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “What is it, Teacher?” “A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he forgave them both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, to whom he forgave more.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house, you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” [RSV]

Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἠρώτα τις τῶν Φαρισαίων τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἵνα φάγῃ μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ· καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ Φαρισαίου ἀνεκλίθη. καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ ἐν τῇ πόλει ἥτις ἦν ἁμαρτωλός, καὶ ἐπιγνοῦσα ὅτι ἀνάκειται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ Φαρισαίου, κομίσασα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου καὶ στᾶσα ὀπίσω παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ κλαίουσα, ἤρξατο βρέχειν τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ τοῖς δάκρυσι καὶ ταῖς θριξὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτῆς ἐξέμασσε, καὶ κατεφίλει τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤλειφε τῷ μύρῳ. ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Φαρισαῖος ὁ καλέσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ λέγων· οὗτος εἰ ἦν προφήτης, ἐγίνωσκεν ἂν τίς καὶ ποταπὴ ἡ γυνὴ ἥτις ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἁμαρτωλός ἐστι. καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπε πρὸς αὐτόν· Σίμων, ἔχω σοί τι εἰπεῖν. ὁ δέ φησι· διδάσκαλε, εἰπέ. δύο χρεωφειλέται ἦσαν δανειστῇ τινι· ὁ εἷς ὤφειλε δηνάρια πεντακόσια, ὁ δὲ ἕτερος πεντήκοντα. μὴ ἐχόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ἀποδοῦναι, ἀμφοτέροις ἐχαρίσατο· τίς οὖν αὐτῶν, εἰπέ, πλεῖον αὐτὸν ἀγαπήσει; ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Σίμων εἶπεν· ὑπολαμβάνω ὅτι ᾧ τὸ πλεῖον ἐχαρίσατο. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ὀρθῶς ἔκρινας. καὶ στραφεὶς πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα τῷ Σίμωνι ἔφη· βλέπεις ταύτην τὴν γυναῖκα; εἰσῆλθόν σου εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν, ὕδωρ ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας μου οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ τοῖς δάκρυσιν ἔβρεξέ μου τοὺς πόδας καὶ ταῖς θριξὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτῆς ἐξέμαξε. φίλημά μοι οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ ἀφ᾿ ἧς εἰσῆλθεν οὐ διέλιπε καταφιλοῦσά μου τοὺς πόδας. ἐλαίῳ τὴν κεφαλήν μου οὐκ ἤλειψας· αὕτη δὲ μύρῳ ἤλειψέ μου τοὺς πόδας. οὗ χάριν λέγω σοι, ἀφέωνται αἱ ἁμαρτίαι αὐτῆς αἱ πολλαί, ὅτι ἠγάπησε πολύ· ᾧ δὲ ὀλίγον ἀφίεται, ὀλίγον ἀγαπᾷ. εἶπε δὲ αὐτῇ· ἀφέωνταί σου αἱ ἁμαρτίαι. καὶ ἤρξαντο οἱ συνανακείμενοι λέγειν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς· τίς οὗτός ἐστιν ὃς καὶ ἁμαρτίας ἀφίησιν; εἶπε δὲ πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα· ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέ σε· πορεύου εἰς εἰρήνην.
