En aquel tiempo, tras llegar Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, hizo esta pregunta a sus discípulos: «¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?» Ellos respondieron: «Unos, que Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que Jeremías o uno de los profetas.» Él les preguntó: «Pero ustedes ¿quién dicen que soy yo?» Simón Pedro contestó: «Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios vivo.» A esto replicó Jesús: «Bienaventurado eres Simón, hijo de Jonás, porque no te ha revelado esto la carne ni la sangre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos. Y yo a mi vez te digo que tú eres Pedro y que sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia, y las puertas del Hades no prevalecerán contra ella. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
