Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Por esto, investidos de este ministerio por la misericordia de Dios, no desfallecemos. Antes bien, hemos repudiado el silencio vergonzoso, evitando proceder con astucia o falsear la palabra de Dios; al contrario, al manifestar la verdad, nos recomendamos a toda conciencia humana delante de Dios. Y si todavía se piensa que nuestro Evangelio está velado, lo está para los que se pierden, para los incrédulos. El dios de este mundo cegó a éstos su entendimiento, para impedir que vean el resplandor del glorioso Evangelio de Cristo, que es imagen de Dios. No nos predicamos a nosotros mismos, sino a Cristo Jesús como Señor, y a nosotros como siervos de ustedes por Jesús. Pues el mismo Dios que dijo ‘Del seno de las tinieblas brille la luz’ la ha hecho brillar en nuestras mentes, para iluminarnos con el conocimiento de la gloria de Dios, que brilla en el rostro de Cristo. Pero llevamos este tesoro en recipientes de barro, para que se vea claramente que una fuerza tan extraordinaria es de Dios y no de nosotros. Vivimos siempre apretados, pero no aplastados; apurados, pero no desesperados; perseguidos, pero no abandonados; derribados, pero no rematados. Llevamos siempre en nuestros cuerpos, por todas partes, la muerte de Jesús, a fin de que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestro cuerpo. Pues, aunque vivimos, nos vemos continuamente expuestos a la muerte por causa de Jesús, a fin de que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestra carne mortal. Brethren, having this ministry as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of truth we would commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a los judíos que vinieron a Él: «¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, porque edifican los sepulcros de los profetas y adornan los monumentos de los justos, y dicen: ‘Si nosotros hubiéramos vivido en el tiempo de nuestros padres, no habríamos participado con ellos en el asesinato de los profetas!’ Diciendo eso atestiguan contra ustedes mismos, pues confirman que son hijos de los que mataron a los profetas. ¡Colmen también ustedes la medida de sus padres! ¡Serpientes, raza de víboras! ¿Cómo van a escapar de la condenación de la Gehenna? Por eso, pienso enviarles profetas, sabios y escribas: a unos los matarán y los crucificarán, a otros los azotarán en sus sinagogas y los perseguirán de ciudad en ciudad, para que se les pida cuentas de toda la sangre inocente derramada sobre la tierra, desde la sangre del inocente Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, hijo de Baraquías, a quien mataron entre el Santuario y el altar. The Lord said to the Jews who had come to him, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ Thus you witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent Abel to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly, I say to you, all this will come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is left to you, desolate. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
