Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. La memoria del justo es digna de la alabanza, pero te es suficiente el testimonio del Señor, oh Precursor. Porque, en verdad, te manifestaste más honorable que los profetas, pues has sido merecedor de bautizar en las corrientes del Jordán a Aquél que había sido anunciado. Por tanto, después de haber luchado gozosamente por la Verdad, anunciaste a aquellos que moraban en el Hades, a Dios que se manifiesta en la carne y borra el pecado del mundo, concediéndonos la gran misericordia. [unES]

The memory of the just is observed with hymns of praise; for you suffices the testimony of the Lord, O Forerunner. You have proved to be truly more ven’rable than the Prophets, since you were granted to baptize in the river the One whom they proclaimed. Therefore, when for the truth you had contested, rejoicing, to those in Hades you preached the Gospel, that God was manifested in the flesh, and takes away the sin of the world, and grants to us the great mercy. Hermanos el testimonio de nuestra conciencia hace que nos sintamos orgullosos, pues nos dice que nos hemos conducido en el mundo —y sobre todo respecto de ustedes— con la sencillez y sinceridad que vienen de Dios; no con una sabiduría meramente humana, sino con la gracia de Dios. De hecho, no les escribimos otra cosa que lo que leen y comprenden. Y espero que comprendan plenamente —ya nos han comprendido en parte— que somos nosotros el motivo de su orgullo, lo mismo que ustedes serán el nuestro el día en que se manifieste nuestro Señor Jesús. Convencido de esto, había pensado ir primero a visitarlos, a fin de procurarles una segunda gracia. Mi proyecto era haber pasado por ustedes camino de Macedonia, para volver a visitarlos a mi regreso de allí. Así podría ser encaminado por ustedes hacia Judea. ¿Obré con ligereza al proponerme este plan? ¿Piensan quizá que mis proyectos se inspiraban en la carne, dando en mí cabida, al mismo tiempo, al sí y al no? Brethren, our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience that we have behaved in the world, and still more toward you, with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God. For we write you nothing but what you can read and understand; I hope you will understand fully, as you have understood in part, that you can be proud of us as we can be of you, on the day of the Lord Jesus. Because I was sure of this, I wanted to come to you first, so that you might have a double favor; I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on my way to Judea. Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans according to the flesh, ready to say Yes and No at once? En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús unos saduceos, esos que niegan que haya resurrección, y le preguntaron: «Maestro, Moisés dijo: ‘Si alguien muere sin tener hijos, su hermano se casará con la mujer de aquél para dar descendencia a su hermano.’ Pues bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero se casó y murió; y, como no tuvo descendencia, dejó su mujer a su hermano. Sucedió lo mismo con el segundo, y con el tercero, hasta los siete. Después de todos murió la mujer. Entonces, en la resurrección, ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer? Porque todos la tuvieron.» Jesús les respondió: «Están en un error, por no entender las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. Pues en la resurrección, ni ellos tomarán mujer ni ellas marido, sino que serán como ángeles en el cielo. Y en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no han leído lo que dijo Dios: Yo soy el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob? At that time, Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection, came to Jesus; and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother must marry the widow, and raise up children for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us; the first married, and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. So too the second and third, down to the seventh. After them all, the woman died. In the resurrection, therefore, to which of the seven will she be wife? For they all had her.” But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his teaching. Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.
