Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Brethren, he who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. En aquel tiempo, Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo: «Siento compasión de la gente, porque hace ya tres días que están aquí conmigo y no tienen qué comer. Y no quiero despedirlos en ayunas, no sea que desfallezcan en el camino.» Le dijeron los discípulos: «¿Cómo hacernos en un lugar inhóspito con pan suficiente para saciar a una multitud tan grande?» Les preguntó Jesús: «¿Cuántos panes tienen?» Ellos le respondieron: «Siete, y unos pocos pececillos.» Entonces mandó a la gente recostarse en el suelo. Tomó luego los siete panes y los peces y, dando gracias, los partió y se los fue dando a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la gente. Comieron todos y se saciaron. Y recogieron de los trozos sobrantes siete espuertas llenas. Los que habían comido eran cuatro mil hombres, sin contar mujeres y niños. And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. And sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magdala. [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
