Hermanos, el que se preocupa por los días, lo hace por el Señor; el que come, lo hace por el Señor, pues da gracias a Dios; y el que no come, lo hace por el Señor, y da gracias a Dios. Porque ninguno de nosotros vive para sí mismo, como tampoco muere nadie para sí mismo. Si vivimos, para el Señor vivimos; y si morimos, para el Señor morimos. Así que, ya vivamos ya muramos, del Señor somos. Porque Cristo murió y volvió a la vida precisamente para ser Señor de muertos y vivos. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, he who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. He also who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; while he who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord, and gives thanks to God. None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo: «Siento compasión de la gente, porque hace ya tres días que están aquí conmigo y no tienen qué comer. Y no quiero despedirlos en ayunas, no sea que desfallezcan en el camino.» Le dijeron los discípulos: «¿Cómo hacernos en un lugar inhóspito con pan suficiente para saciar a una multitud tan grande?» Les preguntó Jesús: «¿Cuántos panes tienen?» Ellos le respondieron: «Siete, y unos pocos pececillos.» Entonces mandó a la gente recostarse en el suelo. Tomó luego los siete panes y los peces y, dando gracias, los partió y se los fue dando a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la gente. Comieron todos y se saciaron. Y recogieron de los trozos sobrantes siete espuertas llenas. Los que habían comido eran cuatro mil hombres, sin contar mujeres y niños. A continuación, despidió a la muchedumbre, subió a la barca y se dirigió al territorio de Magadán. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.” And the disciples said to him, “Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?” And Jesus said to them, “How many loaves have you?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground, he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. And sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magdala. [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ προσκαλεσάμενος ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπε· σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσί μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσι τί φάγωσι· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ. καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον; καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπον· ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια. καὶ ἐκέλευσε τοῖς ὄχλοις ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν. καὶ λαβὼν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας, εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασε καὶ ἔδωκε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις. καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις· οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν τετρακισχίλιοι ἄνδρες χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων. καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια Μαγδαλά.

El 24 de agosto conmemoramos al santo mártir Eutiquio, discípulo de S. Juan Teólogo y del santo apóstol Pablo.
On August 24 we commemorate the holy Martyr Eftyches, disciple of St. John the Theologian and of the holy Apostle Paul.
Τῇ ΚΔʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός μνήμη τοῦ ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Εὐτυχοῦς, μαθητοῦ τοῦ Ἁγίου Ἰωάννου τοῦ Θεολόγου καὶ τοῦ ἁγίου Ἀποστόλου Παύλου.
Por sus santas intercesiones, oh Dios, ten misericordia de nosotros. Amén.
