Lo digo, hermanos míos, porque los de Cloe me han informado de que existen discordias entre ustedes. Brethren, I appeal to you by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas,” or “I belong to Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius; lest any one should say that you were baptized in my name. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any one else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo: Jesús vio tanta gente que sintió compasión de ellos y curó a sus enfermos. Al atardecer se le acercaron los discípulos y le dijeron: «El lugar está deshabitado, y la hora es ya avanzada. Despide, pues, a la gente, para que vayan a los pueblos y se compren comida.» Mas Jesús les contestó: «No tienen por qué marcharse; denles ustedes de comer.» Replicaron ellos: «No tenemos aquí más que cinco panes y dos peces.» Él dijo: «Tráiganmelos acá.» Entonces ordenó a la gente acomodarse sobre la hierba; tomó luego los cinco panes y los dos peces, y, levantando los ojos al cielo, pronunció la bendición y, partiéndolos, dio los panes a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la gente. Comieron todos y se saciaron. Y recogieron de los trozos sobrantes doce canastos llenos. Los que habían comido eran unos cinco mil hombres, sin contar mujeres y niños. At that time, Jesus saw a great throng; and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
