Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, si un hermano tiene una mujer no creyente y ella consiente en vivir con él, que no se divorcie de ella; y si una mujer tiene un marido no creyente que consiente en vivir con ella, que no se divorcie. Pues el marido no creyente queda santificado por su mujer, y la mujer no creyente queda santificada por el marido creyente. De otro modo, sus hijos serían impuros, mas ahora son santos. Pero si la parte no creyente quiere separarse, que se separe; en ese caso, el hermano o la hermana no están obligados. Dios los ha llamado para vivir en paz. Pues, ¿qué sabes tú, mujer, si salvarás a tu marido? ¿Y qué sabes tú, marido, si salvarás a tu mujer? Por lo demás, que cada cual viva conforme le asignó el Señor, cada cual como le haya llamado Dios. Es lo que ordeno en todas las iglesias. ¿Que uno fue llamado siendo circunciso? Que no lo disimule. ¿Que fue llamado siendo incircunciso? Que no se circuncide. La circuncisión no es nada, y nada la incircuncisión; lo que importa es el cumplimiento de los mandamientos de Dios. Que permanezca cada cual en el estado en que se hallaba cuando Dios lo llamó. ¿Eras esclavo cuando fuiste llamado? No te preocupes. Y, aunque puedas conseguir la libertad, aprovecha más bien tu condición de esclavo. Pues el que recibió la llamada del Señor siendo esclavo, es un liberto del Señor; igualmente, el que era libre cuando recibió la llamada, es un esclavo de Cristo. ¡Han sido bien comprados! No se hagan esclavos de los hombres. Hermanos, permanezca cada cual ante Dios en el estado en que fue llamado. [BJ-SAOGM]

Brethren, if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy. But if the unbelieving partner desires to separate, let it be so; in such a case the brother or sister is not bound. For God has called us to peace. Wife, how do you know whether you will save your husband? Husband, how do you know whether you will save your wife? Only, let every one lead the life which the Lord has assigned to him, and in which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. Was any one at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was any one at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. Every one should remain in the state in which he was called. Were you a slave when called? Never mind. But if you can gain your freedom, make use of your present condition instead. For he who was called in the Lord as a slave is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a slave of Christ. You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. So, brethren, in whatever state each was called, there let him remain with God. En aquel tiempo: Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, Santiago y Juan, y los llevó a ellos solos aparte, a un monte alto. Y se transfiguró delante de ellos: sus vestidos se volvieron resplandecientes, muy blancos, tanto que ningún batanero en la tierra sería capaz de blanquearlos de ese modo. Se les aparecieron Elías y Moisés, que conversaban con Jesús. Tomó Pedro la palabra y dijo a Jesús: «Rabbí, está bien que nos quedemos aquí. Vamos a hacer tres tiendas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías» —es que no sabía qué responder, pues estaban atemorizados—. Entonces se formó una nube que los cubrió con su sombra, y llegó una voz desde la nube: «Éste es mi Hijo amado; escúchenle.» Al momento miraron en derredor y ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús con ellos. Cuando bajaban del monte les ordenó que a nadie contasen lo que habían visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre resucitara de entre los muertos. [BJ-SAOGM]

At that time, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them, and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And suddenly, looking around they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

El que se transfiguró con gloria en el monte Tabor ante sus santos discípulos y apóstoles, Cristo, verdadero Dios nuestro, por las intercesiones de su purísima e inmaculada Madre, por el poder de la vivificante y preciosa Cruz, la protección de las celestiales potestades incorpóreas, las súplicas del venerable y glorioso profeta, precursor y bautista Juan, de los santos, gloriosos y alabadísimos apóstoles, de los santos, gloriosos y victoriosos mártires, de nuestros justos y teóforos padres, (santo patrono del templo local); de los santos y justos familiares del Señor, Joaquín y Ana, y de todos los santos, tenga misericordia de nosotros y sálvanos, pues eres un Dios bondadoso y filántropo.

May He who was transfigured in glory on mount Tabor in front of His holy disciples and Apostles, Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
