Hermanos, Cristo es testigo de que digo la verdad, y de que no miento —además me lo dice mi conciencia, guiada por el Espíritu Santo—: siento una gran tristeza y un dolor incesante en el corazón. Pues desearía ser yo mismo maldito, separado de Cristo, por mis hermanos, los de mi raza según la carne. Son israelitas; ellos disfrutaron de la adopción filial, de la gloria, las alianzas, la legislación, el culto, las promesas y los patriarcas; de ellos también procede Cristo según la carne, el cual está por encima de todas las cosas, Dios bendito por los siglos. Brethren, I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen by race. They are Israelites, and to them belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed for ever. En aquel tiempo: se acercó un magistrado y se postró ante él diciendo: «Mi hija acaba de morir; pero ven, impón tu mano sobre ella y vivirá.» Jesús se levantó y le siguió junto con sus discípulos. En esto, una mujer que padecía hemorragias desde hacía doce años se acercó por detrás y tocó la orla de su manto, pues decía para sí: «Con sólo tocar su manto, me salvaré.» Jesús se volvió y, al verla, le dijo: «¡Ánimo!, hija, tu fe te ha salvado.» Y desde aquel momento quedó sana la mujer. Al llegar Jesús a casa del magistrado y ver a los flautistas y a la gente alborotando, dijo: «¡Retiraos! La muchacha no ha muerto; está dormida.» Los presentes se burlaban de él. Pero, una vez echada fuera la gente, entró él y la tomó de la mano, y la muchacha se levantó. Esta noticia se divulgó por toda aquella comarca. [BJ-SAOGM] |
At that time, a ruler came and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, he said, “Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district. [RSV] |
