[Note: Wherever the Procession and Veneration of the Holy Cross will take place (see notes in the Typikon and the Menaion on 1 Aug), according to the order followed on the Third Sunday of Lent (at the end of the Great Doxology of Matins), after the ceremony sing, “Save, O Lord, Your people…” At the Divine Liturgy, use the Antiphons of the Third Sunday of Lent; and instead of “Holy God…” sing, “We venerate Your Cross…”]

Ὅπου κατά τάς σημειώσεις τοῦ Τυπικοῦ (ΤΜΕ, 1ῃ Αὐγ. § 2, σελ. 295) καί τοῦ Μηναίου πρόκειται νά γίνῃ ἡ Πρόοδος καί ἡ Προσκύνησις τοῦ Τιμίου Σταυροῦ – κατά τήν τάξιν τῆς Γʹ Κυριακῆς τῶν Νηστειῶν – μετά τήν τελετήν ψάλλεται τό· «Σῶσον, Κύριε, τόν λαόν σου…» καί εἰς τήν Θ. Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, todos los santos, por la fe, sometieron reinos, administraron justicia, alcanzaron las promesas y cerraron la boca a los leones; apagaron la violencia del fuego, escaparon al filo de la espada, curaron de sus enfermedades, fueron valientes en la guerra y rechazaron ejércitos extranjeros. Gracias a ellos, algunas mujeres recobraron resucitados a sus muertos. Unos fueron torturados, rehusando la liberación por conseguir una resurrección mejor; otros soportaron la prueba de burlas y azotes, de cadenas y prisiones. Fueron apedreados, torturados, aserrados, muertos a espada; anduvieron errantes, cubiertos de pieles de ovejas y de cabras; se vieron faltos de todo; fueron oprimidos y maltratados. Hombres de los que no era digno el mundo anduvieron errantes por desiertos y montañas, por grutas y cavernas. Y todos ellos, aunque alabados por su fe, no consiguieron el objeto de las promesas. Brethren, all the saints through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated — of whom the world was not worthy — wandering over deserts and mountains and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Miren que yo los envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Sean, pues, prudentes como las serpientes, y sencillos como las palomas. Guárdense de los hombres, porque los entregarán a los tribunales y los azotarán en sus sinagogas; serán conducidos ante gobernadores y reyes por mi causa, para que den testimonio ante ellos y ante los paganos. Mas cuando los entreguen, no se preocupen de cómo o qué van a hablar. Lo que tengan que hablar se les comunicará en aquel momento. Porque no serán ustedes los que hablen; será el Espíritu de su Padre el que hablará en ustedes. Entregará a la muerte hermano a hermano y padre a hijo; se rebelarán hijos contra padres y los matarán. Serán odiados por todos a causa de mi nombre, pero el que persevere hasta el fin se salvará.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” [RSV]

Προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· παραδώσουσι γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς· καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν. ὅταν δὲ παραδώσουσιν ὑμᾶς, μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσετε· δοθήσεται γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ τί λαλήσετε. οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες, ἀλλὰ τὸ Πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν. Παραδώσει δὲ ἀδελφὸς ἀδελφὸν εἰς θάνατον καὶ πατὴρ τέκνον, καὶ ἐπαναστήσονται τέκνα ἐπὶ γονεῖς καὶ θανατώσουσιν αὐτούς· καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου· ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος, οὗτος σωθήσεται.

Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.
Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Teotocos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Teotocos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

Vimos la luz verdadera. Recibimos el Espíritu celestial. Encontramos la verdadera fe, adorando a la Trinidad indivisible, pues ella nos salvó.
We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

Cristo, verdadero Dios nuestro, por las intercesiones de su purísima e inmaculada Madre, por el poder de la vivificante y preciosa Cruz, cuya procesión hoy celebramos; la protección de las celestiales potestades incorpóreas, las súplicas del venerable y glorioso profeta, precursor y bautista Juan, de los santos, gloriosos y alabadísimos apóstoles, de los santos, gloriosos y victoriosos mártires, de nuestros justos y teóforos padres, (santo patrono del templo local); de los santos y justos familiares del Señor, Joaquín y Ana, los siete santo mártires, los macabeos, su maestro Eleazar, y su madre Solomonia; cuya memoria celebramos; y de todos los santos, tenga misericordia de nosotros y sálvanos, pues eres un Dios bondadoso y filántropo.
May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the procession of which we observe; the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, the Seven Holy Martyrs, the Maccabees, their Teacher Eleazar, and their Mother Solomone, whose memory we observe, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
